Focus Mk2 B2774 Driver side air curtain circuit open circuit

Featured Replies

My MOT is due in 2 days, and typically my airbag light has came back on. When this has been on previously it was a simple case of cleaning the contacts under the seat.

This time it didnt work so I used Forscan to find the error code. It has came back as the drivers side air curtain being an open circuit. How do I access the contacts for this airbag, just to make sure the connection is secure? Where is the wire running etc.

There is a two pin connector in this line, between the main floor harness, and the two wire link up to the airbag. So it must be at the base of the door pillar in which the wires run, under the trim panels. There is another connector at the airbag itself, as well as the big connector on the restraint control unit.

Pins 1 & 2 are the pins for drivers side curtain on the big connector to the floor harness on the control unit.

Thank you.

Found the connector in the door pillar, disconnected it and put a resistor of 2.4Ohms over the connection to see if the open circuit would disappear. It didnt.

Where/how do you access the main floor harness? I could check the resistance between the connector and the harness. Without taking half the front apart I cant follow the wire.

Standard place on the internet suggests its beneath the gearstick, but theres a void there. Was it different on the Mk2?

Nevermind. I found it.Just need to figure out how all the top comes off, and put the other parts back on.

For the Mk2, Haynes just says it is under the centre console. There are round bolt covers on the console side panels, fairly near the front. I think those side panels are clipped to the main console, so have to be removed first. But at 2011 you would have a Mk2a, which might be a bit different.

Pin-out of the harness connector is below. Pins 1 & 2 should be the driver curtain.
