Focus 2008-2015 - Do they all shake ?

Featured Replies

I heard that these Foci can have a shake felt in the cabin to them even with brand new motor mounts, because there are only 3 small mounts holding the engine.  Nothing "Seriously defective" so to speak but you can feel the the engine is on more than in a Toyota or Volvo.

Is this your experience as well

Not really.  As is common on most brands in terms of diesel engines, some vibration can be transmitted to cabin as lower revs but nothing out of the ordinary in my own person experience.

Until about 2010/2011 most Volvo models were still based on the same platform/engines from when they were owned by Ford so it's unlikely there would be a difference between the brands for this period at least.

Well so something is seriously wrong with my car....

All 3 mounts are brand new and OEM from Ford... Double checked to see they are fitted OK even though I can't see how you can get it wrong if all the holes are there and the engine is straight....

What could cause an engine to over vibrate in itself ?  ?  That's the main issue. You can literally see it rattle, but because the mounts are new, it doesn't move. Just rattle.  Not constantly, more like a vibe every 3 seconds...

When it "rattles" does the rev counter move up/down or does it stay nice and constant?

Nope, dead center !

The engine itself vibrates like crazy, the throttle body looks like it has parkinsons.... Coming from all new mounts and double checked - It's super odd

2008-2015!?

If you mean MK3 2011-2014 then yeah they shake a lot as standard, the engine mounts are rubbish.  I replaced mine and found very little improvement as well.

MK2.5, which is identical in parts to the MK3 (same mounts as well) so yes !

How can you describe the shaking ? if you pop the hood in idle, and look at the throttle body area, does it shake a bit ?

Do you feel the seat vibrate constantly ? Or is it in bouts, kind of like pumping, 3-4 second apart ?

Thanks 🙂
