What pipe is this

I would imagine so any air leaks will cause issues the ECU will be compensating for it.

in your picture you can see the air filter on the far right (left side of car) with a hose feeding filtered air into the turbo charger.....  bang in the middle is a silver heat shield over the hot exhaust driven part of the turbo.... thus that leaves a bunch of pipes and hoses feeding pressurised air to the intercooler,,, which then pumps air in the engine making it faster

if you have circled the pipe you intended, I'd say you need to fix, you'll be loosing loads of power and making odd noises
