Apologies if this is in the wrong place, can someone either advise on what parts I need or point me toward a forum that advises how to upgrade from the Sony without sat nav to Sony with sat nav sync 1?

 

My aerial looks the same as a car with the nav already, is it a simple head unit switch?

 

i have a 2012 focus Titanium X built September 2012.  I have tried looking on etis for radio tyre but it won’t expand. 

 

Im not interested in sync 2 or 3 as I want to keep the car original

aaeriel might look the same but might not have the GPS simple enough though you just buy a fakra gps connector off amazon for less than £10 and works perfect 

I’ve tried searching all I can see is sync 2/3’s. all I want is the original sync sat nav for a 2012

If your car already has sync1 installing a sat nav in with a sync 1 system is relatively straightforward. Check JW1982’s page “my focus mk3 champions edition”. I used the advice he offered when installing a sat nav system on my 2012 ST. See following page 

 

 

 

The parts you need, without upgrading to sync 1.1, are the FCDIM - I fitted a screen bought on eBay Part number: BM5T-18B955-DC and a replacement control panel that had a map button in place of dsp although according to JW1982 you still have access to sat nav functions with the original control panel. After fitting the fcdim you need to do some fairly basic programming which can be done with foccus or forscan.
