Possible smoothening this out

I've noticed today looking at the wheel there is this section where it looks to be dark and not following the line of the rim. Is it possible fixing this so that it doesn't give this appearance? I believe the dirt sticks in the kurb cracks giving it that dark look so smoothing it down might help.

I suppose it depends how far you want to go with it?

For £120 a local place to me does full alloy wheel refurbishment for 4 wheels with tyres on.

I imagine you might get a decent result if you were to lightly sand the scuffed areas and put a little touch-up paint/lacquer on which would stop the dirt sticking so readily - but to fully fix it you would need to build up the kerbed areas to the same level as the rest of the rim.

I have the car a clean today and it seems to be like normal now. Will try out the sanding 👍
