Leak in to boot, why the puddle of water?

Have just ordered a small tube of clear sealant online and will do both screw holes, and 2 x locating pin holes as well. Can't see anywhere else the water may be getting in from. Shame the cleaning up of all that crud didn't sort it, I was quite pleased with the before/after result. Odd too that others have had issues with the RHS too.

Just a quick update...whilst waiting for my silicon to arrive, I took light off again, and applied a liberal amount of multi purpose grease around the 2 x screw holes, the 2 x locating pins, and also that big grommet sitting in the middle. I've now had 4 torrential downpours to see what happened, and it's all bone dry! I now have the sealant, but why fix what seems to work LOL

Yeh I wouldn't touch it, I think I intended to silicon it too but I never did,
Had my car 6 years and it was pretty early on when I cleaned the lights, so 5 ish years of no issues.

Bet you're glad you didn't take that spoiler off now lol.

I had exactly the same issue, and on the right side as well!  What I did was to clean off all the gunk and put a good dollop of grease around the screw holes as that is where I think the water was getting in, especially as it only happened on the right side which is the side I have had to replace a bulb in the past by opening up the lens.  I haven't had an issue since, although to be fair it hasn't rained a whole lot through the summer.  I will wait till be get a good downpour to see if it has permanently sorted out the problem.

Well just had some really heavy rain over the past two weekends which proved that my repair job hasn't lasted!  Wet trim, damp right into the rear seats and spare wheel well became a swimming pool.  Cleaned and dried out as much as I could on Saturday and it filled up again on Sunday so will have to find the time to do it all again if it stays dry long enough.  I guess I will do the same again but with bigger dollops of grease and make sure I get all the possible points of entry.  Will keep you posted.
