Focus 2019 STLine X - Keyless Entry

Featured Replies

Hi all.

First post so go easy on me.

I just, this morning, picked up my 69 plate Ford Focus ST Line X. One of the options I ordered was Keyless Entry.

However I've noticed that in the manual it says it should unlock on all 4 doors but on my car only the front driver and passenger doors work. The rear door handles don't have the little etched lines you touch to lock the car.

My dealer had a focus 2019 vignale and that had the lines etched on all 4 door handles and indeed the rear doors unlocked the car. But not on my ST Line X.

Does anyone know if this is right or a wrongly built car? No where in the brochure does it state keyless entry is only on the front doors unless you order the Vignale.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Cheers.

Those lines don’t actually unlock the door. They are for locking the door. The door unlocks by having your hand in the handle. The rear should unlock the same way. Closing will not happen on the rear due to the fact that the driver will not come out of the rear.

That is how my RS works and I have this option on it.

This is completely normal.

The changes for Model Year 2019.75 (implemented in production arround April/May 2019) were mainly cost saving changes. Apart from many other cost saving changes Model Year 2019.75 vehicles do no longer have keyless sensors for the rear doors.

Unfortunately both the brochures and website do still show incorrect information and do not mention most of the changes at all.

Thanks guys. Appreciate the confirmation.

It does indeed to be the way which is disappointing because as you said no where does it state that only the vignale variants get keyless sensors etc in the rear doors. I'm also annoyed my dealer didn't pick up on this or tell me (assuming they even knew)

Just put a bit of a dampener on collection but I'm sure ill survive.

Cheers.

Andy.

To be fair to your dealer I sincerely believe that  Ford did not tell them about the changes either before I ordered mine or after I took delivery. It took me about 6 weeks to get an official answer from Ford (via my dealer) about the  changes that they made to my Titanium which did not appear on either the brochure or the website.

I actually found out about them a few days before I got an official answer from Ford via a post on this Forum courtesy of @JW1982 (thanks again JW1982)

This seems to be pretty much par for the course - I found out on here that wi-fi updates for Sync didn't work long before my dealer did, and it looks to be similar story with the disappearing multi-link suspension on the Mk 4 Focus.

Dealer I often use told me a long time ago that Ford dont tell them about production changes .Often the first they  know is when a vehicle arrives from the factory with different spec from that advertised.

I love this thread! In my day, 'keyless entry' meant the use of a screwdriver LOL 🤣

Even Vignale doesn't have keyless entry for the rear doors anymore. Mine is 2019.75 built and only front door can be unlocked keyless.

Could it be though that there is the option in a menu somewhere for full or driver only unlock?  I've had cars with this.

I think there is an option, but since the change the two rear doors no longer have sensors. All this will do is disable the passenger door and possibly the tailgate.
