Focus won’t start when pressing START button

Featured Replies

My Focus has failed to start when pressing the START button on a number of occasions. I have had to call breakdown twice. It has now spent more than two weeks in the garage and, apparently it starts every time. I told the garage that it starts first thing in the morning, but if I have been out in the car and then try again later, there’s a good chance that it won’t start. If I then leave the car, it starts again the following morning, or has so far. This is extremely frustrating as I, in effect, have a car that I can’t use. I only bought it four months ago and took out an extended warranty for peace of mind, but it’s not much help when the garage can’t ‘fault’ the car. Has anybody experienced a similar issue?

Could be a faulty clutch pedal switch or you're not depressing the pedal far enough.
If the system isn't detecting the pedal is depressed then the car won't start.
