hello all. I have bought genuine ford rear shockys ( brand new ) but when i reveived them i noticed that there was no resistance and they didnt go up. I could push the shock down with one finger and they stayed down, so i gathered that they where f**ked so i sent them back and i bought another set , MONROE GAS SHOCKERS. I recieved them today and unfortunatly they do the same as the qst set that i bought. I was just wonder if iam being daft and maybe they should do what there doing or are they both nakered ?

shock absorbers should be easy to push down. and then have resistance to them when you pull it back up.

I have seen some shocks that  come back up on their own, but that is not what a 'traditional' shock absorber does.

It's the suspension spring that lifts the car back up, it is not the job of the shock absorber to list it back up.

The shock absorber is there to stop the spring lifting the car back up too quickly and then bouncing about.

In the old days they were called dampers. That is probably a better term, it dampens the bounce.

It does not sound as if they are faulty - assuming you can pull it back up and it is slowing that down.

As above. Generally the 'gas' type shock absorbers will go back up on their own and would sometimes be packaged with a strap holding them down.
