@Phil21185 great write up and easy to follow , today i have spent 2 hours going through all the menu's setting , voice control, map  trying lots of different route's asking for POI's ie pubs restaurants,petrol station, and tuning dab,fm stations all with positive results. the only thing i have found is when the screen goes from day/night is flickers slightly but i can live with that .

So i'm going to the next stage of going from build 19101 to 19200 got the files sorted so will report back after im happy with the result.

19200 is the build the tutorial links to and works fine, apart from the annoying nav command issue I posted a video to.

The author of the tutorial confesses themselves that they rarely use the built in nav, preferring google maps in Android Auto, so will likely not have recognised that there is really an issue.

Again, it works, but you have to "find an address", then "change country" to UK, then say the address. Bit of a faff is all.

Not sure what other differences between 19101 and 19200 are...

EDIT:  I've just noticed that the VOICE file in the tutorial is a 5U5T, whereas Tezza's was 4U5T.  Doesn't that usually mean a different region? Don't the VOICE files relate to voice commands?  Could that actually be the problem I was having????

Might not be down to the 19200 build of APPS at all then.... 🤔🤔

I haven't got time to test this theory tonight, but I'll maybe try tomorrow.  For now, the writeup on the previous page installs a working, apparently stable 19101 build.

The tutorial in the link is 19200, but one or more nav voice commands are a bit screwy

My thinking is that if one uses the tutorial files (Method 1 if you want all the EU maps), but change the VOICE file 5U5T-14G391-AH to 4U5T-14G391-AJ, as well as the reference to it in reformat.lst, that might fix the problem.

If you understand what you're getting into and want to give this a try, please post back with your results.  A reflash should be done in exactly the same way as the original install though.

I’ve made some progress!

got rid of the climate and enabled radio station icons.

however I’m still having the issues with the voice control, and I used the 4u5t voice file so don’t think that’s the issue. I’m on 19101 for some reason though and not 19200

also the installation in progress still popping up when I start?

Thank you to everyone for all the information, I'm going to somewhat@Phil21185 suggested and grab the info and wait a while. I need to check my build info first too.
@Tezza and@Luke_Anderson would you mind sharing the forscan edits you used to remove climate repeater from the screen, enable Logos (I think that is changing a digit to a 2 if I read the fussion forum correctly) and also enabling 'calm screen' I think that will be brilliant, I often just want to see the date\time.

Thanks again

Hm not the voice file then. I did get the installing message when on 19200, but not using the setup I listed above. Can you copy in the contents of your reformat.lst?

You used the all in one package download didn't you?

What’s going to happen if an official ford update comes out. Will this not work after doing this update.

Probably not, but then if I understand correctly, early apims like the ones most of us used to upgrade with wouldn't be supported anyway?

Might be wrong about that

Random thought but earlier in the post Phil you posted a quote of what I believe was Tezzas reformat.lst which was known working without the nav voice command fault? If so the voice file on that one ended in DJ? Could this be the mystery problem?

No, that was the list needed for the original tutorial. At one point, the reformat file wouldn't download so I had to write one using the file names.

With that setup, the nav voice commands didnt respond at all.

I think we can safely use the AE version of Dab though, rather than AD.

I'm surprised that anyone with a vehicle still under warranty is considering doing this as I would imagine that would be invalidated as the Sync 3.4 release was intended for MY20 vehicles.

Sorted out my brightness issue, just need to enable calmscreen and the station icons.

Like 3.4 very much.

I'll have a compare of this with other setups a bit later and see if I can work out what's going on.

@Luke_Anderson It looks like you've copy pasted out of your list file, but I think Map file BBE should be 421 not 412. Just check you've installed correctly?

If the filename matches it doesn't matter as far as I know.

Well the only difference I can see between my setup and yours is that slight error in the map file - not sure if that would cause it but I doubt it; you'd probably get a missing file error and installation would fail.  Have you performed a master reset after flashing?

The setup which I thought might work for 19200 and the fixed nav command problem would be:

Quote

APPS=5U5T-14G381-CD.tar.gz
VOICE=4U5T-14G391-AJ.tar.gz
VOICE_NAV=4U5T-14G422-BAC.tar.gz

ENH_DAB=1U5T-14G658-AE.tar.gz
LICENSE=1U5T-14G424-BG.tar.gz0

I'm not going to be able to get out to the car today to test this.  Luke, you fancy humouring me and setting up an installation with the above files and trying it?  It is necessary to do a master reset after installation.

It only has UK maps for speed, but if it works without problems and on 19200, you could reflash with the EU maps? This also has the (newer) AE DAB file.

Its also wise, but not necessary to remove the extraneous numbers after the filename - just another place where there could be a syntax error.

Hope there isn't a flash limit on these APIMs =]

I’ve already been out dicking around 😀

I’ve got the clam screen and logos working but only when you change the asbuilt without rebooting the unit, the option goes as soon as you turn the unit off. I think a firmware update is needed to keep them. I’m going for a walk with the kids but will have a go later on, hoping it might sort the installation in progress issue as well. The voice commands for the nav I’m not to fussed about fixing 👍🏻

how did you remove the climate control. I can’t find my notes from when I did it before.

Thank you.

Edit APIM module code line 7DO-01-02.
0289 0216 8002 is with climate menu.
0289 0716 8002 is without climate menu.

I will just say, just change the value that is different, so xxxx xXxx xxxx.

If you copy the whole line, that may affect other settings that shouldn't be altered.

You can find more info here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19oroStPr5WlZD-sKa2VZzHZiV2_nc0R4yM2ylRnsuVU/edit?usp=drivesdk

Each bit (digit if you like) has 16 values, each one affecting up to 4 different settings.

For example, that bit affects the climate repeater also affects DSP surround settings, the nav repeater format (some of us have had issues where the turn by turn in the dash is multiplied by 256 if set to the wrong setting), and whether your car is a Hybrid Electric, which enables the electric power train menu.

Look for the value which is common to the settings for each of these 4 variables you need.

When gathering this info, I've discovered that some settings appear to have changed (ie. the configuration in the hidden menu says the correct thing) but the actual setting hasn't applied, or a different thing has been changed. There have been instances where two adjacent settings in the list have actually been swapped in the programming, so editing one displays the correct text in the config, but actually changes the other setting. Silly Ford...

I also think that this is controlled by:

7D0-04-01 xxxx xxxX xxxx. Should be a 1 to disable.

I don't think this version is going to be available to 3.0 user's anyway and if it does we should get update's if not just find a 2020 vin number to do the updates

Yes they are as i was hoping someone would found away to do this without updating to MY2018.5 software so it looks like it has to be done

So basically you need a vbf file loading program  I used UCDS to do the update it so it looks like it helps keep the calm/logs on the system no other benefits on doing this update.
