dbaplaya
Can anyone clarify if my car is at risk of relay theft please? It's a 2019 Jan Fiesta with keyless start but not keyless entry. One Ford dealer I spoke to said it is possible to scan and copy the key while another said it isnt as it isnt keyless entry. Help appreciated
Luke4efc
It shouldn't be at risk as the key should only transpond when you press the button rather than scan all the time. That being said getting in the car is the easy part. Starting the engine is where thieves struggle. As it's keyless start they can probably still relay it. alexp999
The key is broadcasting all the time as it will be too early for a sleepy key, however as you only have keyless start (not entry) the car won't be listening for it, when it's locked, so they can't use relay theft to unlock it. They could in theory use relay theft to disable the alarm and start it, but only after they break in and treigger the alarm, so it's much less of a risk than keyless entry. If you are worried, just keep the keys in a metal tin or foiled lined pouch to act as a Faraday cage to block the signals.
