On starting engine “Emergency assistance malfunction, service required” came up which was acknowledged with pressing the OK button.

Then found no sound when TA displayed but radio went silent until “cancel” tapped.

After this had happened intermittently several times over the next few days on starting the engine I realized that the radio sound level was reduced by about 3 increments and the sat nav. also did not give any verbal instructions although the display did show the journey.

Also when these sound faults were on the proximity warning bleeper was screechy and not the normal tones. Pressing the voice command steering wheel switch caused the screen to show the menu but there were no voice commands. An incoming text message showed on the screen but pressing the read icon did not give the voice reading the text.

When I took car to dealer they investigated and contacted Ford service who stated that this is a known problem and a software update is being investigated but unable to say when this will be available to install.

Not a very satisfactory position to be in as the problems are now pretty much every time I use the car.
