Hi guys

Looking at buying at 17 plate focus 1.5 diesel st line. If it hasn't come with cruise control, heated mirrors and reversing camera, how costly is it, how easy is it.

I'm a complete newbie/idiot and would need to pay someone to do it for me. Anyone in Cardiff area?. What's involved. Or is it even possible

I have a 17 plate 1.5diesel power shift ST Line, it has Cruise Control as standard I believe, the mirrors and front screen are also heated, again I think this is standard.

Reverse camera however is not standard, I fitted my own which connects up to the Sync screen and works the same as OEM apart from the lines don't move with the steering wheel. Once fitted the camera needs to be activated in the APIM which requires a Windows laptop an ELM327 cable and a Forscan license. Camera costs anywhere from £10-30, cable approx £15 and Forscan license is free. Time to fit would probably be around 3-4hrs @ about £40-50 labour. It is a very easy job but time consuming, it's easily something a keen novice could do. Like I said I fitted my own. If the car had rear parking sensors then it's an easier job than a car without because the wiring is in the boot ready, if not then you will also need to buy a 54pin APIM harness for about £27. Then the wire from the camera needs to be run the length of the cat and the sync unit needs to be removed to get to the back of it. This is what I had to do, still easy enough if you watch a YT video of removing the sync unit.

Have you already got\seen the car, do you know if it has the extras you want? It may be worth keeping on looking for a car with the extras you want. I bought mine from Arnold Clarke, they have access to thousands of cars so worth asking them. Not that I recommend AC though, I've never been back there since buying it

Right I believe that I have purchased a mark 3 with sync 3

Can someone please advise what I need to buy to get the camera working, I don't have reversing sensors, I think that's about it. I may have somebody who can fit

Cheers in advance

search was a post in last few weeks with quite a bit of detail...

one need to remember when reversing you get to look in the mirrors or out the window... a camera is a "nice" toy but pretty useless aid to parking, sensors both ends add more value
