Hi everyone!

Can anyone tell me if there is any reason why a non-satnav Sony stereo cannot be replaced with satnav included Sony radio??

Mine currently has a standard sony stereo and I'm thinking of buying an identical one which does have a satnav included.

Any possible problems you guys are aware of?

I spoke to a Fiesta breakers and they seem to think that there will need to additional parts needed that wont be in my TDCI- cables/stuff.

I tried asking Lookers Ford parts division- they couldnt tell me anything about what kit I would to get the stereo/satnav to work correctly.

Anyone able to offer any advice?

i think cars with satnav in have the thing that communicates with the satellite in the sky stuck on the inside of the windscreen up by the mirror, so you would need that at least. don't know if there would already be some wiring in there (up by the interior light perhaps).

i don't think i imagined that. My fiesta style has satnav built in - original owner paid loads for that as an optional extra. There is something on the windscreen up by the mirror and the car does not have rain sensing wipers so I have always assumed it is the satnav thing

I did this and yes there are various bits you need,a sat nav radio, bigger screen and pod for starters then there is a bit of wiring you have to run as most likely your loom wont have it. All in all it wasn't too bad a job....i managed it. If you search the forums im sure a few of us did a thread on it especially the wiring part. The GPS aeriel was easy, available cheaply on eBay and i tucked mine under the pod with the screen. Gotta say though i have gone back to a tomtom, so much better, even though i had tomtom maps on the ford system.

I've searched for you:

Will Harrison- awesome!! Thanks everyone- you have been very helpful.

One more question - the tutorial states that certain pins in the radio require connecting to certain pins on the satnav- how do you make these connections? Specialist connector blocks? Soldered joints?

I was lucky James, i had a spare block and pushed the connectors out, made my loom and them pushed them into the block on my car, the biggest problem i can recall was with the GPS fakra cable, the one i got from fleabay had a different plug than the ford type so i had to carefully trim it with a stanley knife to make it fit.

As for the connector block try a breakers yard etc, im sure the pins are available though pity maplins are no more somewhere like that would of had them, then its simple to make the loom up and get them into your own block.

I've got the satnav in my car but I use a Garmin Nuvi 65LM instead.   I can load speed cameras on the Garmin and I can't on the Ford satnav. The Garmin is bigger too and easier to read.

I've been trolling eBay looking for  Fakra ended satnav antenna- I very found a genuine Ford one- but it appears to be just a box with the connector sticking out the edge.......will this thing fit in or will I need to get one on a cable? I've read several posts on here from people who have concealed their antenna under the cowl....

Why installed into the fiesta, when you can easily use your phone.  With big data plans Google maps is alright.  There is better Here Maps, is my recommendation simply because you can download whole countries for holidays etc and it won't use any data at all.

Lespes- many thanks. I've visited a breakers and got some blocks so that I can remove pins to make up the two additional wires to connect the 2x satnav/2x stereo connections.

What I'm struggling with is identifying which is screen pin 6- radio pin 4 and screen pin 12-radio pin 5!!!!!!

Do you have an image or anything I can use to identify which is which?

As i recall the block that goes into the set is numbered the numbers are very small but on mine they were there. Im sure too that there are images here alraedy from the post i followed.

On the display  screen connector pin 12 is blue/green   pin 6 is blue.  On the c1 big connector that goes into the radio pin 5 is blue/green   pin 4 is blue

The connections between pin 12 and 5 and 6 and 4 were not too bad i never had the wiring in the c1 adapter so just made up the wires and plugged straight into the holes the display end i was able to splice into which is a lot easier when you slide out the connector and wires from the housing.casing

I remember that the numbers are on the c1 block but you have to slide it out of its casing use a small screwdriver, its fiddly but it does come apart

Read this it will help

Here is another post cleary showing the blocks and how to get the block apart where the numbers can be seen. scroll down to the relevant piccys

So I downloaded Forscan to my Android (Samsung) phone- does anyone know how to get the extended licence for Android, and also how to apply it?

Everything I read seems to be all about Windows O/S's. Help!

You can't do Configuration and Programming with the Android version at the moment, although this may change at some time in the future. Here is a link to the comparison table. https://forscan.org/comparsion.html

If you have a look on the FORScan website there are instructions there about Extended Licences.

Hi everyone, just want to say thanks for all your kind help with this retro fit- it's all installed and Forscan changes made- works great!

I also used Forscan to activate the window global opening/closing- strangely when operated by the remote- both windows open- but when locking, only the passenger window shuts- the drivers window remains fully down....
