idle rpm drops and stalls when cold and gearbox mount

Featured Replies

Hey everyone, I've got two issues with my 59 plate 1.8 Duratec Zetec S focus.

This happened last winter and has happened recently as the temperature has dropped, whilst the car is still cold (thermostat below 90 degrees) and I come to a stop, the rpm drops and then jumps back up (battery light and coil like light flash on the dashboard) and then the car stalls.

I was thinking perhaps it needs a new battery (don't have a multimeter) but after some googling maybe it could be the EGR valve?

Another thing is I think I need to replace a gearbox mount(s) as when I accelerate quickly and change gear I get a loud clunk. Does anyone know hoe much I can realistically expect to pay for a local garage to repair?

Thanks all

If the car starts ok then the battery is ok
