2009 1.6 TDCI Immobiliser issue

Hi Guys, i have a 2009 1.6 TDCI that had an intermittent starting issue which now wont start at all. After lots of digging around and getting an electrician involved he said the car is immobilised and it was the ECU at fault even though there was a IC fault code logged. I have sent the ECU to be tested and it has come back as OK so am thinking clocks next. Question is do the new clocks have to be programmed to the car of if i get one with the same model number on the back will it just plug in and work? I would appreciate any advice. Many thanks

    i am wondering if it is a wiring connector plug somewhere between the instrument cluster and the ECU.
