DESPERATE - engine problems

Featured Replies

So the problem is, engine has no power. It will drive almost fine on a flat road, but going uphill it struggles a lot (where it used to do 70mph now it does 40mph). It threw a P0172 error code, which means system is running rich. Engine sounds fine, doesn't idle perfectly though (fluctuates 50rpm +-), and the exhaust sounds just a bit rough.

I know it's not one of the following:

-spark plugs (replaced)

-coilpack (replaced)

-injectors (converted to LPG, and drives the same on LPG or gasoline - so can't be injectors)

-clogged air filter (tried running it without an air filter, the same)

-valves (rebuilt top end, can't be it)

Only left are two things that I haven't yet replaced: catalytic converted or the throttle body. Now, I've looked at some data, and it shows throttle only opening up to 78% (it idles at 15-17%). Is that normal? I removed the hoses and physically opened the throttle all the way, and it read 92%. Also closed it all the way, and it read 10%. What are your suggestions?

PS:

Car is 2012 focus mk2, 1.6 74kW.

Mas air flow sensor or lambda sensor will make it run rich, also the idle control valves (picture below) on these can play up you can clean them sometimes works bit of carb cleaner in them to soak for a bit then empty out and a quick spray of wd40 in it to relube the seals.

before spending out on the mas and lambda its worth trying some cataclean through the car fuel system first just encase its blocked.

It doesn't have MAF sensor, but pressure sensor instead. Replaced already, and lambda replaced too. Still the same. Will do as said for the idle control valve. Thanks!
