What Thermostat to Buy?

Featured Replies

I have some coolant loss and suspect the thermostat housing but am having difficulty identifying what thermostat to buy.  The vin code suggests the engine (type) is a 1.6L Duratorq DI TC (95PS) but the service history states the car is a 14 reg focus diesel estate 1.6 Tdci Edge 5 dr.  I guess this is the same thing engine wise.  When looking for the thermostat many sites ask for the vehicle type and when I put in the the details (e.g. Ford > 2014 > MKIII [2010 - 2019] Box/Estate) I get options for 1.0 EcoBoost, 1.5 EcoBoost, 1.5 TDci, 1.5 TDci Econetic or 2.0 TDCi.  I'm a little confused as I've had this choice on many sites - I have an estate with a 1.6 engine.  Any advice on what thermostat I actually need would be much appreciated.

I'd be checking for recalls. known coolant issues on many around this time...

my sister's needed a new coolant bottle (nothing outstanding on hers 1.6 petrol turbo may 2014 I believe)
