MK 2 Focus Drivers Seat

Featured Replies

Hi Good Afternoon,

My elderly neighbors car has recently failed his MOT due to the drivers seat dropping when weight is applied to it.

Upon closer inspection the metal frame underneath has snapped.

So I am looking on various selling platforms for a MK2 Focus 1.8 TDCI drivers seat if possible please like the one in the image.

But I am struggling both on eBay and local breakers yards..

Any ideas on where the best place to source the item would be at all please?

can it be welded? is there a local welding place (car body or metalworkers) where you could take the seat to (removed from car).  walk in with seat, say can you weld this for me mate while I wait, won't take you a minute will it, how much do you want to do it. Might be 10 or 20 quid (stand there with a bucket of water just in case needed).  even if you have to strip back some of the upholstery before you go there and it looks tatty afterwards,  if the number one objective is to pass the MOT this must be worth considering.

The seat can be disassembled completely. It will take some time but is definetely worth the effort. After the seat is disassembled you can either take the metal seat base to a welder to have it repaired or just get a replacement seat base from a scrap yard. Because all manual adjusted MK2/MK2.5 (except ST/RS) are identical it will be very easy to find a replacement seat base.
