MK4 door edge protector removal

Hi guys any idea on how easy it is to remove the door edge protectors?

Just had one fail on me, it doesn't wrap around the door properly and hangs out, luckily nothing damaged.

It's with the dealer who are inspecting this issue

Whilst it's a cool feature I don't find them to be of good quality and I want to avert any damage to the car

Secondly would removing these invalidate the warranty

Any help much appreciated

You can just unclip the protector from the actuation rods.

I wouldn't mind to be honest having kids they tend to fling doors open, your ones are functional unlike what is on there now

You better start saving then as they're a bit pricey.

Yes, you can take them off your car, or leave them on, as well as sliding them up and down the door edge for the best position LOL

I've even heard of people doubling them up, extreme modders.

You should also note that for wind resistance and that colour denotes its effect, red and blue add 2 and 5bhp respectively, amber is more to get the down force really. White is for fuel economy and if they're just rubber with no reflectors then then that's more aimed at helping with the airflow over the car to reduce the wind noise at higher speeds.

I'm not up to scratch on other colours but I assume they must have effects too.. 🙃

Oh and be careful if you triple-up on red AND blues. That's just asking for it!!

Ahhh I see. And then you pretty much leave the mechanism free in the door?

They are a great dea, but soooo fragile !

Best method of removing them is to take your car to be washed...the cleaners will knock them off and break them in a trice !

Or get the wife to catch it with her coat as she gets out !
