Water in front passenger footwell.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a 2013 Focus basic spec.

As per title water in the front passenger well, and it's soaking up loads. If I apply a little pressure to the carpet with my foot loads of water appears.

Checked the door seals and all seem fine, water isn't coming through the roof either. checked online but struggling to find anything.

Can anyone offer me any tips to look into?

TIA

Anyone else thinking heater matrix? Does the water smell of anything in particular, or are you sure it's rain water?

Pretty sure its rain water mate. It's more wet towards the left of the well, towards the door.

Could it possibly be a blocked scuttle drain causing the water to overflow into the ventilation duct? If so there's a danger it could be soaking the fuseboard/BCM.

If you think at all it's a 'rain water' leak, the smartest diagnostic I ever saw was on Wheeler Dealers when working on an Aston, he placed a smoke machine in the car interior, and on closing the door, could easily see the smoke creeping out of a certain bit of the door seal. Do you have a disco smoke machine in the attic? 😂

Is the boot/spare wheel wet?

If so could be water getting in behind the air vents behind the rear bumper. I would imagine if left for long enough in the rain etc then enough would get in to get into the cabin

Check out my post on the same issue. Page 6 onwards.👍 Good luck!
