2010 focus tdci 1.6 P0504 error code but brakes work fine

Featured Replies

Hi i am a bit confused we have a 1.6 tdci 2010 dash has started showing engine malfunction warning with alarm on start up but engine running fine checked codes and only getting P0504 brake light switch code ...... which a) brake lights working fine and b) brake light fault is not an engine malfunction ??? Any help appreciated thx

Incase it is relevant we just had the instrument cluster fail and be rebuild but the code relating to the loss of communication to that is no longer showing and random warning lights etc symptom has gone

Have replaced brake light switch and still have fault please help i am at a loss as to what is wrong now

Could it be the instrument cluster? Is there a lamp on it that shld illuminate when the brakes come  on (or the handbrake?) Did the fault exist before you had the cluster rubuilt?
