2017 C-Max Grand

Hi chaps...

I'm struggling a bit with understanding the process of updating the mapping system on my c-max grand.

My car has Sync 2, and the mapping SD card is marked as an 'F5'.

I understand that there have been a few updates since version F5.  There are certainly plenty of resellers on the internet selling cards which are marked up to 'F8'.  I have tried ringing my ford dealer about this, but they wouldnt pick up the phone on saturday, and service have been engaged or letting the phone ring out all day today (Monday) (i got through once and they put me on hold, but no-one answered and I hung up after 15 mins of Bryan May)

My questions therefore:

1. Are cards bought from internet resellers legit?

2. I note that people have had success downloading the updated maps and flashing them to an SD card themselves - is this still a viable option?  All the links i have found on this and other sited are either dead, or pointing to a torrent file with no seeds.  I would certainly give this a try if anyone can point me to a guide and a working link.

Please don't think that i haven't tried to check this out for myself - the Ford website is worse than useless - it boils down to 'contact your dealer' (see above).  I have googled around the subject, but a lot of the more informative links are USA-focused, or supply links which are dead.

If this query isn't welcome here then let me know and ill delete it, or repost it where's more appropriate. Otherwise, thanks in advance for any help, any info appreciated.
