2013 Ford Focus questions

Featured Replies

Hi, just recently got a 13 plate focus. The sync app says I have no apps installed. I know Waze is one, plus when I connect using usb,it doesn’t seem to work when trying to ring out etc. Maybe I need to use a original apple cable? If I do I’ll just use a usb stick for the music and Bluetooth for the phone

also, how much is it for cruise control to be fitted? And where would supply and fit?

thank you

In 2013 Ford installed the SYNC 1.0 system. This is the 1st generation of the SYNC system. SYNC 1.0 does not have APPlink.

APPlink was introduced in 2014 as a feature of the further developed/improved SYNC 1.1 system.

Could I update it?

The hardware (APIM module) is different between SYNC 1.0 and SYNC 1.1.

If you want to upgrade from SYNC 1.0 to SYNC 1.1 you need to change the APIM module and have it reprogrammed manually to match the vehicle options/settings.

Ah okay fair enough thank you

now just the cruise control need advice with

Retrofitting Cruise Control on a Focus MK3 is pretty easy. There are basically 2 methods:

The easiest way to retrofit Cruise Control is to buy a new or second hand complete steering wheel with Cruise Control switch assembly.

The cheapest way to retrofit Cruise Control is to make a cutout at the left side of your own steering wheel and install the Cruise Control switch assembly yourself. Retrofit kits containing the original switch assembly and aftermarket wiring are offered on Ebay and AliExpress pretty cheap. Making the cutout at the left side of the steering wheel however is pretty labour intensive and there is no room for error.

After the Cruise Control switch (or complete steering wheel) is installed the Cruise Control functionality and the speed limiter functionality (which is part of the Cruise Control system) need to activated in the CCC (Central Car Configuration) of the BCM and IPC. This can be done using a (modified) ELM327 interface and the free FoCCCus or Forscan software.

I’ve got a usb hard drive with songs on, I’ve formatted to fat32 yet the car says it has an error after it says initiating? What could be the problem?
