1.8 duratec he 2007 temp gauge issue ???

Featured Replies

Hi just purchased a 2007 focus estate 1.8 duratec he for a temp runaround.

I have noticed that within 1 mile of driving it from cold the temp gauge goes straight to half way within a mile

Is this normal my previous 2008 1.8tdci temp gauge went up gradually

Thank you for your help

sounds ok to me 🙂

This behaviour of the temperature gauge is completely normal for this type of engine. It is just the way the software is programmed.

On the Focus MK2/MK2.5 the temperature gauge shows a calculated value and not a realtime value. The value is calculcated by the PCM based on the data of several sensors. On petrol engines the behaviour of the temperature gauge is pretty unnatural. This can be improved drastically by changing the engine type within the instrument cluster configuration to a diesel engine. For some reason Ford decided to make the diesel engines temperature gauge behave differently from the petrol engines temperature gauge.

Hi thanks for the reply all of you just one more thing I have done the dashboard test to bring up engine temperature at fully warm it states 111 degrees does this seem ok thank you all

This is the cylinder head temperature. 111 degrees Celsius when the engine has reached its normal operating temperature is completely normal for this type of engine.
