Need help with MK2 TI-VCT

Featured Replies

Hey all!

I bought a Ford Focus MK2 TI-VCT last week. Everything was ok. The timing belt and a camshaft sensor was replaced just before I bought the car. It starts easily in cold, accelerates good, no problem, After 50kms I got a check engine light. Went to a mechanic pluggid it on the computer said it was camshaft sensor. So the other one wich hasn't been replaced before got replaced. After about 10km the check engine came on again. Switched both out for a new one, after 17 km check engine again. Plugged it on the computer again we get to codes, P0341 and P0030A.

If you look at the picture the two with the red circles got replaced. But what are the sensors on the left? Because some mechanics said there are 4 sensors, but the car shops said there are only 2. For Authorized Service said to change the timing belt again, but it has been change about 300kms before, and the car drives good, so we don't think it is necesarry. The guys mechanic who I bought the car from said we should take the car to an automotive electician, becuase probably not the sensors are the problem.

Any advice why does it keep doing this?

proper diagnostic kit and depending on what that says, I expect the sensors are telling the truth leaving either of these as the issue

check valve timing has been put back in the correct position

or maybe need to replace dephasers (these are the bits that vary the timing)  -  not an expert does it have two solenoids that allow oil to reach dephasers (adjustable cam sprockets for want of the right words) and two sensors to let engine management know cam position ?

dirty nasty oil and blocked oil ways cause dephasers to misbehave - welcome to the world of designed to fail - time wasting rubbish - if it was 1800 cc they could have just saved all the ***** and sensors and aggravation it would just make more go everywhere anyway !

I hate slow internet connections that mean u end up clicking the wrong bit

Hello,

There is a problem with your code P0030A. Is it P000A or other ?

What is the mileage ?

I'll go with Botus for dephasers out of order (had the same problem when I bought mine).

You can also check the coil plug wires. In my case I had a short and it probably killed my intake camshaft sensor. (see picture)

If the second code is P000A you can try to time again the engine and if the error is still here, dephasers need to be replaced!
