1.6tdci Focus Estate Titanium 2012

Featured Replies

Hello

I've put 44k on my estate, bought at 43k, so 87k. The 44 I've put on have been gentle, home serviced as / when required  (oil and filter changed every 6k as a precaution). Car runs fine and was a beaut during a 2800 mile round trip to Blanes this summer, with incredible indicated mpg @ up to 71mpg. Anyhow, I've looked on here for a cambelt change guide and cant see one, anyone done it? Also, car feels rougher / noisier in general on the road, even a brand new section near my home ( tyres are all decent ~Goodyear Eco things with 6mm plus). Any thoughts?

ps will this have electric power steering?

cheers

Hi John.  Yes, I  believe the power steering is electric.

The best cambelt guide is Tom's on the mk2.5 - it's very similar on the mk3 i believe.  Here's the link  .. Have you got a haynes manual for it?  Should be a step by step guide in there as well which would be helpful to cross reference.

Thanks Albert,

I did search but didn't see a guide on here, thank you, believe mine is a 2.5 also. Have found one on YouTube ford focus 2011 1.6 tdci timing job YouTube and one for diesel filter change  Fuel Filter Replacement Ford Focus 1.6 Diesel 2011- tdci which are useful. No Haynes as yet.

I've also picked up a 2nd hand tuning box, Tunercentre, and will be fitting that to see how the car reacts, not just power but economy etc. - at £50 its worth a try.

yeah that looks like the mk2.5.  I also found this video very helpful particularly when i got stuck on the tensioner.   Same engine just a different car.  Btw if it's the mk2.5 it's probably hydraulic power steering!

2012 seems very late for a MK2.5, can you post a picture so we can be sure?

MK2.5 is the 16v engine and electro-hydraulic steering.

MK3 is the 8v engine and fully electric steering.

Here's the only pic I have

That's the mk 3.  How different is the cambelt on these @TomsFocus ?  Electric power steering anyway John!

Ps nice tent 😄

Cheers and thanks for confirming mk3, why I thought it was a 2.5 don't know. The tent, cheapy from Decathlon, we did Calais to Blanes, 1 overnight motel and 2 days camping adjacent beach, then Andorra hotel for 1 night, then Beziers, 2 nights camping in Antibes then headed back stopping various places, great fun

Yep, as above that's a Mk3 so has the later 8v engine and fully electric steering.

The cambelt change should be pretty much identical as the belt only goes around one cam on the 16v engine anyway, the second cam is driven by a chain.
