Focus st 2012 fob problems

Featured Replies

My focus St wont lock with the fob and the car won't start. The fob has a new battery in it but the car keeps saying 'no key found in car'.

My battery on the car had to be restarted with jump leads because I'd been away a few weeks on holiday, then I've come back and having these problems. Any help or advice would be grateful!! Not a nice Xmas present

Check your fuses, some may have fried when jumping the car.
Also the car battery voltage may be too low to run the car systems properly, try charging it and see how you get on.

This a mk3 or mk2 ST? If MK3, where the ignition barrel usually is you should notice a blanking cover. Pop this cover off and insert the whole fob and this will allow your car to start again. Leave the fob in with the engine running for a few minutes and it will re sync the fob to the car.

I believe it’s a fail safe for when your fob battery dies and you’re left with the manual key blade to physically unlock the car and then you can use the fob to start it :)

It's the ST3, I did that, I actually drove around 50miles. I got home, switched the engine off. Fobs still won't be found by the car and won't lock/unlock. The key fob batteries are fine. Does Ford need to somehow reset my fobs?

Weird, normally works fine for me after doing that. Don’t suppose you’ve got a spare fob and that is working fine or same issues?

Before you get ripped off by ford, try disconnectecting the battery for about 15 mins and then reconnecting it again. This should reset the BCM and some other modules and the. Try the re learn procedure again :)

More than welcome mate! Yeah, let us know how you get along, I’m really intrigued to what it could be... especially if both fobs a throwing a fit and the car isn’t liking them!

That didn't work at all sadly. Then today I went to to the car, the car dash, electrics are dead, won't lock, unlock. The car starts and drives but nothing apart from the electric seats work inside. No power steering either. It's completely baffling. My mate tested alternator, was fine. Put a different battery in, still the car is the same. He's a mechanic and baffled, I'm totally confused now!!
