255 35 19's on 8x19 wheels?

Hi all, so I bought a set of used fox racing fx004 in 8x19's that came shoddy in 255 35 19 rubber (winter dunlops), from what I have read, the max for a 8 inch wide wheel is 245's, but the side walls on these tyres are straight with no inverted stretch (cant think how best to describe it)

this pic show on the left  the 255 35 19 dunlop on 8x19 and the right is 225 40 18 Goodyear on 8x18, the goodyear dose have a built in rim protection but, I'm not seeing much of a difference, so either my winter tyres aren't the 255's that are stamped on them or my wheels aren't 8x19 that they claim to be, or is there another explanation?

Any help would be appreciated.
