Water inside the car

Featured Replies

Hi all. I’ve got a focus 62 plate. And I’ve had condensation on the windscreen on the inside for a while now, I just put it down to cold weather but we’ve just noticed the passenger foot well and the foot well behind the passenger  seat are like a river once you press your hand on the carpet you can see the water come up. A couple of my daughters toys have gone mouldy because of it. This shouldn’t be right. I’ve just gone to my local car garage but there closed. Does anyone know or have had the same issues?

any recommendations are welcome

thanks.

Hi

I'm from Ireland so I don't know what a 62 plate is unfortunately

But I do know a common problem with the 2005-2011 focus was a leaking pollen filter housing,

Another common problem was a leaking boot compartment as the seals around the rear spoiler bolts are made of sponge and deteriorate letting rain water in; I've taken my spoiler off then applied silicone and refitted as preventative maintenance.

If it's a 1.6 petrol from 2005-2011 then I recommend fitting an engine cover from a volvo (same engine) to prevent the windscreen washer jets from letting rain water to drip inside the engine coil packs, all washer jet seals let the rain in but it only becomes an issue with the 1.6 petrol

And if the wipers, lights or horn ever start going on and off by themselves like the car is possessed; even while parked and nobody around; that's the engine bay fuse board lid and seal leaking allowing water in to bridge connections on the relays allowing it all to happen as though someone was pressing the controls.

62 plate is 2nd half of 2012.

Have you checked the spare wheel well?

Could be the vents In the boot area, I think there is a sticky thread about this issue

This was my story of window condensation...
