C.D. player add on for Focus B & O upgraded audio

We've just acquired an ex Ford demo 2019 Focus Titanium X which has the B & O audio upgrade option fitted & whilst the sound is impressive the system does not incorporate a c.d. player, to date we haven't had the opportunity to ask our dealer whether a c.d. player is available as an add on & wondered if any of you knowledgeable people would have a definitive answer ?

Thanks in advance for any information you can offer.

I dont know but very much doubt it. Why not get a 32GB usb stick and convert all your CDs to mp3. You'll get about 4000 to 5000 tracks on that, depending on bitrate. Ok, so mp3 will lose a little quality over a cd but, even with a B & O system, will you really notice that in a car?

Hi Ian & thanks for your reply, I think you could well be right about the lack of an add on c.d. player.

We do have a 32gb USB stick but due to our lack of knowledge have no idea how to convert a c.d. to mp3 & then playback in the car ?

Any info you can offer in an '' idiots guide '' manner . . .  😀 would be much appreciated - thank you.

Assuming you've got a computer with a cd drive and it runs Windows ,  then this should help https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-windows_install/copying-music-from-cds-to-a-flash-drive-using/99f9ca66-d845-4bf6-b98d-0729f567300f

If your computer or laptop doesnt have a cd/dvd drive then you can get a usb drive like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Rioddas-External-Portable-Rewriter-Desktop/dp/B07JGWBLVH/ref=pd_sbs_147_t_1/259-2359205-3719736?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07JGWBLVH&pd_rd_r=a6fec1aa-6429-4178-9464-531bc7965403&pd_rd_w=7UmrR&pd_rd_wg=O3gpG&pf_rd_p=e44592b5-e56d-44c2-a4f9-dbdc09b29395&pf_rd_r=VMKM4KBVDHKFT3Q88W91&psc=1&refRID=VMKM4KBVDHKFT3Q88W91

If you dont have a computer then this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Teac-CD-P650-Compact-Player-Recording/dp/B0045EJY90 appears to be able to do it standalone. Not cheap but still probably cheaper then any ford upgrade option if there was one!

As for playing it back in the car, just plug the stick into one of the usb ports and select usb as the audio source on the sync 3 screen . It will index all the albums/tracks on the stick and allow you to select what you wish to play.

I seem to recall a dealer fit auxiliary CD player was available as an option on my Fiesta, so I can’t see why the same wouldn’t be available on the Focus.

EDIT:

https://shop.ford.co.uk/products/cd-player Might be this I think

Thanks for the info . .  at our age we'd have to live forever to listen to 60 million songs as just listening to 1 million would mean listening to 2,747 per day, every day for 1 year 😀

If you struggle with Windows media player then there are other free cd ripping programs available

https://www.nch.com.au/rip/index.html

And http://www.exactaudiocopy.de come to mind...

Thanks Ian

We seem to be winning by ripping the c.d. to the laptop's music library, using Windows Media Player, then simply dragging & dropping into the U.S.B. drive G & then proving success by using the U.S.B. in the car 👍
