DS3 bulbs

Has anyone found and fitted DS3 LED bulbs?

Anyone?

Curious as to why you're looking to replace your Xenons with LEDs? Won't you need to do wiring changes to bypass the ballast etc?

Just get the Osram Nightbreaker Laser D3S bulbs - it'll cost you a fair amount (looking at about £75/bulb vs about £45/bulb for standard Osram Xenarcs), but the reviews about the light coming out of them is fantastic.

Thanks for your reply

Only reason I ask is the colour temp I have it in my head I want 6000k I have some cheaper version and love the colour but I don't think they're bright enough.

The nightbreaker are 4400k

If you mean you want Osram but want 6000k colour, then choose "Xenarc Cool blue" rather than "Xenarc Nightbreaker".  But, I'd not because the blues simply look different, whereas I think that the the Nightbreakers actually give more visible light and are more suited to human eyes as they're closer to sunlight spectrum.

The Osram Cool Blue Intense bulbs are not that blue really, they do give a whiter light though (so bluer in the light spectrum)...this is what I've experienced with D1S bulbs in my Mondeo; the original bulbs looked too yellow so I changed them, they are whiter and match the factory fit LED DRL's better plus are slightly brighter than standard.

I have been thinking about changing them for the Nightbreaker Laser but am concerned that they would look too yellow in comparison, plus they are not cheap to 'try', so to speak. The Cool Blue's have been on my car for over 5 years now, so a little more life in them.

The Nightbreaker Lasers are definitely yellower; I'd describe them as a warm white colour. However, they are also brighter than the Cool Blue Intense, and the yellower tint improves visibility in poor weather, especially on wet roads.

Looks like I should be looking at the nightbreaker but are they worth the money compared to the original d3s?

They're definitely better, but the headlight design isn't the best on the Focus. I do find them a definite improvement over the stock, but don't expect miracles...

Hi mate, have you had the CBI in your Mondeo? Did you really notice light drop off in wet weather compared to standard/Nightbreaker?

I'm almost in the same camp as the OP - I want something a bit whiter to match both the DRL and the white light coming out of most German cars with LED headlights (colour envy!), though I'm bothered about losing the light on wet roads, which, let's be honest, happens an awful lot in the UK.

I just changed cars to a Mondeo this week. The CBI was in my previous Mk3 Focus, and yes they were fine in the dry but much poorer in the wet. Nightbreaker Lasers were much better. Be aware that the colour of the Laser isn't pure white - it's kind of inbetween a halogen and one of those German fancy lights. However, it gives very decent light output, including in the wet.

Thanks! Were the CBIs noticeably whiter then, or would you say hardly worth the upgrade?

I'm torn between CBI for the whiter look, and the Lasers for pure light output!

The CBIs are definitely whiter, but my recommendation would be to go for the Lasers. Looking good won't do much if you can't see where you're going 🙂
