Hi I'm in need of some advice please I've just brought a 2012 focus automatic & while driving it did not seem to want to change gear it did after a while then when i went to reverse park it would not go in to reverse gear. After i finshed work i jumped in the car & all seems ok i rang the place i brought it & he said if i bring it back and it works he wont refund my money any advice please as the car runs fine now

Sounds like the gearbox is due an oil change I believe it's every 30000 miles and not part of the normal service routine.

What engine /gearbox does the car have?

If it is the infamous Powershift (usually called Powershit) gearbox you may have a serious problem. The symptoms you describe are early failure symptoms of the Powershift gearbox control system. These symptoms usually get worse over time and may result in complete gearbox failure which usually results in a new gearbox or a complete gearbox overhaul.

If the car does indeed have the Powershift gearbox and the problems persist you should have the gearbox repaired / replaced or otherwise get rid of the car while the gearbox is still working. Replacement of a Powershift gearbox is pretty expensive (probable more than the car is worth).
