On this type of engine the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) is integrated into the black cover of the throttle body. The TPS is not available as a spare part. In case of a defective TPS the complete cover needs to be replaced.

When the cover is installed the TPS connects directly to the throttle plate shaft. Once installed the TPS has a fixed position and can not be adjusted. Because of this there is no specific installation procedure.

After the TPS has been replaced it is recommended to disconnect the battery for approximately 15 minutes. This resets the KAM (Keep Alive Memory) of the PCM. The PCM will basically loose al its learned values and will run in a pre-programmed mode (the engine may run a bit rough and the fuel consumption may be a bit higher). From this mode the PCM will adapt itself to the real situation based on sensor data. It can take up to 1000 Miles before the PCM is fully adapted.
