Timing Belt Change Period ??

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have a mrk 2.5 59 plate Focus Zetec 1.6 diesel, am just wondering if anyone knows the timing belt change period?

Thanks
Kyle

on my 2007 fiesta 1.6tdci it was shown as 10 yrs/ 125k miles.  That was twincam 16 valve engine 90bhp.  I know later engines were 8 valve single cam. I do not know when they changed and if it makes a difference.

The timing belt on mine was a lot easier to change than say 1.6 petrol for example as on the 1.6tdci the belt only goes round one of the two camshafts and all pulleys have woodruff keys on and you don't have to take cam cover off top of engine and a hole in back of flywheel to stop crank turning. (2nd cam has a chain from the first cam).  People usually say don't risk it, change earlier. I changed mine at 7yrs/120k miles.

As above, will be the 16v engine in a MK2.5 so 10 years or 125k.  I certainly wouldn't push it though, changed mine at 9.5 years/72k.
