leslie
How long have you owned a Ford? I reckon I've had mine going on seven years now. I'm not sure, I've lost all insurance details and information for the car, and there's a possibility it was stolen in the first place. I'm also going blind in my left eye and tend to trail off topic randomly in long conversations. Did you guys see that movie last night?Anyways, going back to my original topic. Can anyone suggest a good eye surgeon, or should I just take the thing out with a spoon? I have owned fords for more than 50 years the way to be really happy with the with the vehicle is to find an honest motor mechanic to do your servicing and the odd repair, the only time you use a main dealer is when you need a new car as you have no other choice. Ford like all other manufacturers have ruined their reputations by letting their dealers openly cheat and treat Ford buyers with contempt we shall soon all be buying from the chinese and japanese manufacturers so ends an era. but to answer your question go to your local ford dealer he will assure you he can handle your problem by using a special ford design silver spoon at a cost of less than a million pounds plus vat
Obsession
Hi everyone, I'm new here, I just bought my first Ford Focus last month, I am very fussy with what car's I buy, I had a wee corsa for years and loved it but decided to change and I bought a Clio, I got it all done up, ran it for 2 years and made a profit on it when I sold it, so last November I wanted a Pug 206 (against everyone's advice) I bought a PUG 206 gti in Novemeber, I got fully comp insurance for £300 (approx) but I drove the car from Glasgow to Blackpool and then up to Aviemore, but I hated the car, just wasn't good to drive so I sold it when I got home and went and bought a Ford Focus and I can tell you I LOVE this car. It's only a 1.4 (not powerful) but its so good on petrol and it looks good and it drives so SMOOTH!
Hoke
Started off in '64 with Dads Zodiac, had at least 2 of every model Zodiac and then the Granadas over the years, plus the usual Anglias, Cortinas, Capris, 2 Corsairs, Escorts, Fiestas, never had or driven a Sierra, most of them got modified strayed to other makes now and then but back with a Ka now, Lowered of course...still like to play
MichellefromEssex
My first car when I was 17 ( 24 years ago) was a lovely Mk2 Escort, since then I have had Mk3 & mk4 escort, Fiesta XR2 and XR2i, Escort XR3i, Orion, Mondeo and after a lengthly break where I had a BMW and Mercedes I am back with my brand new Fiesta Zetec Sport. saffyal
Get my 1988 Sierra Sapphire tomorrow Fri 20th March, to replace my Knackered 1998 Rover 416 which has proved itself totally incapable of towing my caravan. Reverting to rear wheel drive with I'm sure greater success. Late 60's had a Escort 1300GT, In 1973 a new Cortina estate (family man) and later a new Orion Ghia on C reg. Also inherited a Fiesta in early 90's. Have just about collected a Sales Brochure for every car I've owned. Is anyone else doing this. Its much harder than collecting Haynes manuals! DONFRAMAC
I have never had a ford before my focus. Always loved jap cars like the mr2, celica and 300zx. Since getting the focus thou, cant fault the drive, reliability and feel to the car.Had the car now just under a year by the way ;) Grandfather/father & uncle in motor trade. Father in Ford dealership for his last 30 years work -- hands-on + F/M + stores. He had a Mk 1 Cortina 1200 2 dr, later, a Mk 2 Cortina 1600 Auto 4 dr, then no more Fords until after retirement :-- Mk 4 5-dr Escort 1400 LX CVH, that was only scrapped after his second wife went into a nursing home 4 years ago, 6 years after his demise. My own cars started with a Hienkel 200 bubble car in 1967, mini-van, Riley Elf, Ford Classic 1500 ( model also called Consul 375), NSU PRINZ 4L (600 cc), Mini Clubman, Hillman Avenger 1500, Citroen GSpecial Estate, Citroen GS Saloon, Renault 5L, Fiat 127 1050L, Talbot Horizon 1500GL, new Austin Maestro City, new Yugo 513 5 dr, new Renault 19 saloon 1.4 Litre, new Toyota Carina E 1600 4 dr, new Toyota Corolla 2.0D Sportif 5 dr, -- rolled by Son 6 days after his driving test, new Corolla 2.0D Sportif 5 dr, new Rover 25 TD 5 dr, new Toyota Yaris D-4D 3 dr, new Ford Fiesta 1.25 Zetec Climate 5 dr since 30/09/2008. For the first time I feel vulnerable to NAFF backup from the manufacturer & dealer network. The warranty seems flimsy, possibly on a parr with Yugo, when Yugoslavia was split by war. At least then I knew the car was actually a Fiat 128 with a Fiat-sponsored hatch-design added to it, so parts from Fiat would have suited perfectly. My car gives a lot of driver pleasure, is well-built, solid, handles very well, but the gearbox was a problem from day one. 3000 miles later, I still have to be slow from 1st to 2nd gear. Toyota 'boxes were never like this. My wife's Aygo is bliss (her second Aygo, and her 5th Toyota). Ford should have fixed the IB5 gearbox problems long ago, but they just don't care. I could give you a list of problems from my father's experiences, to show them up as poor engineers, slow to get to grips with technical difficulties, and ham-fisted cures. As a metallurgist myself, I can speak with some authority, but I may have to use the dealership in my home town, so I shall desist.

GRAHAM46
My first car was a mk11 Escort 1.3 red with a black roof. It even had my initials in the reg GAJ 740V. I was then seduced to the dark side and drove several Peugeots, my sister worked at the Peugeot dealership and i got discount so it made sense. I finally saw the light and returned to Ford with a 2005 Focus LX just over a year ago.
