2006 Ford Focus Fuel Flap/Door won't unlock!

Hoping someone could help! I have a 2006 Ford Focus and the flap/door to allow you access to the fuel cap will not open when the car is unlocked. Anyone know if there is a manual switch/lever inside the car or is there any trick to opening it besides hoisting the car and removing the wheel and arch etc? Diesel tank empty!!!

    Same with me for a 2007 Focus. I pulled flap so hard the cover came off leaving the rest of it stuck there.
