Lots of Error Faults

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

My ford focus has been acting very odd recently and I'm wondering if anyone where would have any ideas of where to start with this.

Earlier this week the car went into limp mode and after stopping wound not start at all, the diagnostic had a long list of faults, including one regarding the immobiliser which was preventing the car from starting. Resetting the fault codes allowed the car to start and it drove normally for a few miles before going back into "limp" - that is to say the engine does not respond to any inputs on the accelerator. mode, the persistent faults are:

U0140 - Lost Communication With BCM
U0155 - Lost Communication With The Instrument Panel Cluster Control Module
P1935 - Brake Switch/Sensor Signal
P1936 - Clutch Switch/Sensor Signal

When the car failed to start this was also present:
P1622 - immobiliser ID Does Not Match
P1622 - Theft Detected Vehicle Immobilised

I've read about dodgy soldering on the IC module, could this cause all of those errors? My gut feeling is that it could be something to do with the IC as when the car stops responding to accelerator input the first thing that happens i the tacho input drops to zero. Or am I looking at a fault with the PCM, or continuity of the CAN Bus?

Any suggestions more then welcome, before I take it to a garage it feels like it could get quite expensive.

Thanks,

Will

You seem to suffer from same problems that my brother's 2008 focus had.

This is the thread - it goes on for ages and lots to read but it will hopefully give you some ideas on what to check. it could be the instrument cluster in your case, or it could be the wiring connectors. You might be lucky and it be the first connector you try. But in my brother's case we thought we had fixed it a few times and then it happened again. But since September it has been fine - on my last post in September it was playing up but after a few more days of being troublesome it just somehow mended itself and has been OK for about 4 months, and it has been used a fair bit in that time.
