Leaking o ring in heater matrix pipe

Featured Replies

Has anyone had the o rings replaced in these pipes located up by the clutch pedal.got coolant leaking into footwell(soaked through)..ideally want a rough estimate of what people paid to have them replaced.ive rang a few local garages but each one has said they've never done the job before so were unable to quote.I'm useless with cars so wouldn't even attempt DIY fix..car is 2005 focus 1.6 titanium.. t.i.a

Yep common fault on the mk2 focus pre-facelift. It's where the pipe from the heater matrix joins with the one coming through the bulkhead. It's an o-ring with a plastic clip holding it together.

To do it properly it's a full dash out job so expect to pay for nearly a full day's labour. It is possible to access from the footwell and just pull the pipe back through the bulkhead a little. It's 50/50 as to whether you'll do a good enough job for it to seal properly though. Plus I doubt a garage would want to put their name against it and have to offer some sort of guarantee.
