Mk2 - spark plug seal

Featured Replies

Hi,

Is there such a thing as a Focus Mk2 spark plug seal / spark plug tube seal ?

The mechanic says my focus need to have those replaced , and i ve been searching online for these seals,  but i can't find anything about these spark plug seals.

Thanks

never heard of them 😮

Asking him to clarify what he means or maybe try another mechanic. Unless they mean ignition leads??

What problem are you having?

If the plugs are getting wet from leaky screen washer jets then a bit of silicone under the jets is a quick fix.

If you're losing compression past a spark plug you'll need a new one (or set) as they come with crush washers attached.

Only other thing I could think of is the ignition leads as suggested above, but I don't know they'd be called seals.

Hi.

Yes, you guys are right. There a no such spark plug seals for the Mk2.

The mechanic assumed that the "seals" were leaking  when he saw signs of oil on the spark plug.

So  , now I m waiting for the arrival of a new  valve cover gasket. ( from Ebay  ).

Thanks guys.

on my 1.6 petrol it has taper seat plugs, no washer just a 45 degree angle.   Too much crap that you let fall in, coz too lazy to clean before removal or corrosion from the puddle could cause issues.  Overtightening these also means they can be a bugger to get out next round
