I Have a Ford Focus mk2 with a cd 5000 stereo. I had to unplug the car battery so it asked me for the security code which I did have. But it wouldn’t accept the code. I found a online code generator where you can put your serial number in and gives you the code, it says you can press a certain button to get it to tell you the serial number but doesn’t work for my car for some reason. I also found you can buy special removal tool to look at the side of the stereo for the serial number so I got some tools but I can’t seem to get it out. Any ideas what to do?

If you have the right tools you just insert them into the two holes either side, then push outwards, this releases the clips and you then pull forwards on either side while maintaining outward pressure.

can i check you are putting the code in correctly.  eg if code is 5327   you would press button 1 five times, button two 3 times, button three twice, button 4 seven times.  then you have to press another button but I can't quite remember which one (might just be button 5)

Correct, buttons 1-4 to scroll the security code and button 5 to confirm.
