iPod no tracks on device - Ford Focus Mark 3 Connecting iPhone

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I have a Ford Focus Mark 3 Studio (i.e. basic model) from 2014.

It doesn't appear to have bluetooth, so to connect my iPhone to the radio I have to connect it to the USB slot.

However when it does this, I get a message saying "iPod no tracks on device".

I just want to connect my iPhone and play tunes from Spotify or similar apps - is this possible?

Thanks

Matt

From what I remember with mine, the USB port would only pull music from the inbuilt media player such as the iPod.

I could never get Spotify or anything similar to work over usb direct from the phone. I simply used a memory stick with music on instead

USB is a data connection and not a music connection. This type of audio system does not support Ipod/IPhone control or data (music) streaming to the audio system.

Because of this it is not possible to "play" music from a USB connected device to the audio system. This requires an AUX input (which can be retrofitted if not present).

However some devices can be configured to act as a mass storage device when connected by USB. In this case the device will be recognized by the audio system as a mass storage device (like a USB thumb drive) and content on the device (if the file type is supported) can be played and controlled by the audio system.

I had this too.  Tried a Bluetooth FM Transmitter, but it was terrible.  So in the end I went with a Connects2 kit to use the Kenwood stereo I bought for my old car, that had bluetooth and USB.

The connects2 kit is a bit pricey though, but have no regrets with getting it.
