sonicninja
Hi everyone, I have a MK6.5 (facelift) fiesta which currently has the standard Sony 6000CD stereo/radio in. The radio signal strength has recently dropped (ive check the aerial itself and all seems fine) so I'd like to replace the stereo. I've also wanted DAB for a while now so it seems like a good time to upgrade and see if I can improve the signal. After scouring the net for days I cant find any guides on installing a DAB aerial. I have bits and bobs of info but none specifically relating to my model of Fiesta. I'm looking at getting the Ford Sony DAB stereo (think it might be referred to as the Sony Gen2 DAB Stereo) but im unsure If i can connect up my existing am/fm radio roof attenea as well as a new glass attanea. Ive removed these fiesta stereos before so no issues there (It seems like a straight swap) but any help in terms of DAB aerial connectivity and where/how I need to run the glass aerial would be gratefully received. I've attached a couple of pictures to my existing fm/am radio and the DAB im going to install if none of this makes sense! Cheers Keith

sonicninja
Thanks for your help Stoney. I'm currently looking at the DAB stereos from the Kuga 2008-2012 which seem to be the correct form factor and have a standard aerial socket on the back as well as a Fakra for the DAB. Anyone had any experience fitting these to a Fiesta? Im wondering if its possible to leave my current aerial where it is (and connect it like-for-like to the new Kuga unit) then connect a second aerial on my windscreen up to the second fakra connection? cjay1
dab signal is weak in most areas the only way i have managed to get good reception is by replacing the standard ford antenna with a hi-gain amplified antenna performance with this new antenna is nothing short of exceptional. the stuck on types are not much good. HandsomeStan
@sonicninja I’ve recently done exactly this using a kuga Sony Dab in my ST150. Wasn’t keen on the silver surround though so switched that with my standard dark grey Sony surround. @Stoney871 has done an awesome guide (cheers mate 🙂👍) which helped, I planned to follow it but trying to cut costs I tried a combination of an aerial splitter and then some cheap adapters to connect it to the back of the stereo. I’ve replaced my aerial and base though with the one sold on paintmodz, looks the business and receives a DAB signal perfectly in my car. Only negative, you will lose the info displayed behind the steering wheel telling you the name of the radio station, I haven’t missed it though, far too happy listening to DAB to notice 😁
