Ford Focus Zetec Flat Battery Can't get into the car

Featured Replies

I seem to have a flat battery this morning and cant access the car in the usual way with the electric key fob, but the manual key isn't working either, it won't trun at all in the drivers side door. Any ideas? (Jump leads are locked in boot too!) -  Claire

Maybe lock is siezed through lack of use. Could try WD40.

Ah ok, might be something that simple I suppose. Thank you

You don't say which model it is?  If it's a Mk2.5 you can open the bonnet with the key and stick a battery charger or (someone elses!) jump leads on.

If the key wont turn in the door at all, it's either the wrong key (locks previously replaced) or has seized through lack of use.

Try the key in the passenger side lock. I had a 54 plate MK1 Focus on which the key would not unlock the drivers door but would unlock the passengers door and if your Focus is a MK1, as said, you open the bonnet by rotating the badge upwards to the left and insert the key and turn it, keep the key fully turned and lift the bonnet.

Another thought, you can open the boot/hatch with the key, remove the parcel shelf and get in that way, if you still cant open the bonnet make up a lead with a cigarette plug one end and a couple of crock clips the other, connect it up to another battery, plug it in and you should then have power to open the doors. This lead is useful when you have to change the battery, hook it up before you remove the battery and this give you power to stop the radio system from loosing power feed so you don't need to re-enter the code.
