Tyre pressure monitoring system

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've had quite abit of trouble with one of the sensors for the rpms leaking. Had it repaired , had a new one and it's still leaking.

I'm thinking about just replacing it with a normal valve.

Is that possible?

Will I have any problems with warnings on the dash etc?

You will get a light on the dash, I suggest you get a genuine tpms valve from ford, stupid I know but it will work. I believe some cars simply dislike aftermarket valves and sensors.

Just make sure that you can return items that have been fitted or opened.

Regards

Cal

If the Ford one is stupid money (I'd be shocked if it wasn't!), most tyre depots these days can replicate OEM TPMS sensors at a very reasonable cost, and obviously do all the necessary programming to pair it up to your car. So try KwikFit or whatever your favorite flavour is...

Leaking from the edge or the core?  If its the core, you can tighten them, they only screw in.

If its the edge, it'll be the alloy corroding and cutting into it, will have the same issue with a plain valve, it's the rim that needs attention.
