2015 focus st steering wheel removal??

Featured Replies

Hi, does anyone have a removal guide please I've searched online and can't find one. Many thanks.

I'm actually hoping to do this tomorrow to fit some cruise control buttons I've had as long as I've had the car... If all goes to plan I'll take some pics and upload, but I'll be in a rush so apologies if I don't have chance!

Basics (From memory!):

Centre your wheels and disconnect battery

Pop the cover up and off from between the wheel and the dash

Turn the wheel 90° one way and there should be a gap that a small flat head screwdriver will fit in to, in there is a clip that holds the retaining bar for the airbag, fiddle to have the bar pop away from where its held, do the same for the opposing side of the wheel

Finally I believe a third will be present on the bottom of the wheel also, so from centred, turn the wheel 180° to get at the final clip

The airbag should pop out, and will be held with two wires, be careful not to detonate, just apply common sense and don't rush. They're great fun but not so much at point blank!

Its then just a case of centre the wheel again and then its just the 24mm bolt holding it on, with the rest of the wiring loom.

Not to say I'm speaking from experience or anything....! 😅

@The 🐝

I'm in the middle of swapping mine now and it's as I said, with the exception of not having a third clip under the wheel - If you're on yours, feel free to give me a shout and I'll reply where I can. Mines a smidge more complex than I planned as I'm fitting buttons to a non-CC ST wheel, so some cutting is needed.... 😥

Hi all and thanks for the replies. I finally managed to get it done and it was actually really easy.

After loads of searching I found this online: https://cardiagn.com/

It covers the RS but basically the same process.

When I get my custom wheel back from being repaired I'm going to make a video and post it on YouTube because I couldn't find one and it will probably help somebody in the future.

Thanks again.
