Decent bulb set

Featured Replies

Can any one recommend a decent set if bulbs that's how good light. Had a few cheap ones from local factors but they don't last and after a while are full.

A few rules though they NEED to be 100% road and MOT legal, need to be exact for the focus mk2.5 headlight unit as in correct wattage ect so they don't damage the unit.

Links and recommendations welcome.

Thanks

Osram night-breakers or Philips White Vision, try ebay or amazon for prices.

Always use Halfords. Never had a problem. They do a complete set in a neat case which you can keep in the glove box.

I'm amazed that folk still carry around a full set of spare 'bulbs' with them. I haven't done so since the 70s! I am never outside the distance of driving to a place getting a spare if I need one. Every garage sells a vast array of them, your SatNav will take you to a local motor shop when it's open. Still, I suppose there are many 'just in case' drivers still around... 🤣

I remember a traffic cop trying to stitch me up for a blown bulb, told me I had to provide proof of repair within seven days to the station i said I can do better than that, pulled out the spare bulbs from the boot and necessary tool kit. It's also legal requirement for some European countries when travelling on their roads (along with some additional safety gear).

I do it because I was under the impression that if you inadvertently drive with a bulb out and were stopped by the police, they wouldn’t issue a ticket if you had the bulb in the car and could replace it. Maybe that’s an urban myth. 🤷‍♀️🤔

Yep, urban myth... much more influence will be found with a short skirt, and a cute smile LOL

What do you do if it's dark and very early in the morning or very late at night and both of your head lights stop working within seconds of each other? do you wait until its light enough that you can drive without your lights or do you replace at least one so you can drive further?

Maybe in the UK/Ireland but in the Netherlands you'll get a nice juicy ticket if you can't replace your car's light bulb.

Both lights going simultaneously? Buddy, with that kind of luck, I lock her up, and start walking LOL 🤣

Stick the fog lights on and hope you don't get stopped by a traffic cop!

I can count the number of times I've had a dipped beam bulb blow on one hand...I've never had 2 blow together, if they did you probably need a bigger repair than just bulbs anyway.

Interestingly, it's still illegal to drive during the day with a blown bulb in the UK, not that anyone would ever know lol.

@sonic113 I'd recommend getting a pack of Phillips WhiteVision H7s with the free 5W5 sidelights.  I've had them in the Golf for over 18 months, it uses dipped beams as DRLs so the lights are constantly on...  Nightbreakers don't last long any more in my experience.

Neither does mine!!

Will have to use main beams instead in that case!
