Focus MK3 leaking front shocks?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've had a 'noise' coming from the font of the car recently, mostly when going down the multistorey car park at work. Bit hard to describe but almost a droning/rubbing sort of sound. It's not a constant sound and once the car levels out it disappears. If I put my foot on the brake it almost becomes a grinding sort of sound and can then feel it through the brake pedal.

I've had a poke around underneath the front today, brakes look completely fine, plenty of life in the discs and pads, all the bushes on the wishbone look ok and nothing bent.

The only thing that stood out was that on both front shock absorbers in the exact same spot on each they were both wet and the rest of the underneath was dry. Wiping it away on one side it felt almost greasy rather than watery. Tried to get a picture of it.

Could it be the shocks on their way out or am I likely looking in the wrong place?
