washing machine in focus.

Featured Replies

Has anyone managed to fit a washing machine new in packaging in the back of there mk3.5 focus. Wanna pick up one from argos but not sure whether to borrow my mates van.

Thanks.

Matt

Borrow the van LOL I picked one up a while back using a neighbours 'white van', those things have enough packaging around them to make St Greta shout at you 🤣 Oh, and it's a 2 man job to lift in, and out...

Yeah get van, but one man can lever a washing machine into a van

Only if you have a morning portion of Weetabix lol

Won't fit in a Mk3, the hatch is a really impractical shape.

I've previously lifted a washing machine into the back of an estate car alone, just rocked it over and slid it in against the bumper, couldn't do it now though and wouldn't do it on a 'nice' car for risk of bumper damage.  Really depends on your personal strength and how much you like the car...but if you've got the option of 2 people and a van, definitely go with that!

I got one in the back of mine. Tight fit but it went in, getting it out during heavy snow was more fun though!

I had one in my MK2 no probs aswell.

It was indeed! I would have preferred a van if I had one as I was moving home during the 'beast from the east' so taking it out at the other end proved interesting! haha.

Of course, the accepted safety of transporting a washing machine usually states it should be done 'upright', so unless you stick it through the sunroof, take the van LOL

Or get a roof rack and stand it up straight lmao

Mk2 has a much better boot!  Bigger and more practical.  I found a few things I couldn't fit in the Mk3 that I'd bought to the flat in the Mk2 lol!

Yes, I found it very good. Mate of mine went from a Mk 2 to a Mk 3 and was very disappointed with the boot space. Now he's gone and bought a Volvo V40 which is even worse - I did warn him!😀

I almost got a tumble drier into a mk7 Fiesta once 😂

Personally, I'd save myself the hassle and get them to deliver it especially as its free delivery on large kitchen appliances.

I have about 4 months ago, but this.^

From experience, if that's an option, 100% do that.

I wouldn't have been able to fit a new one in, all the packaging would have made it impossible but for my current one to move houses I dropped the seats and threw a tarp down and it <just> fit in- I also put a bit of foam on the 4 corners to stop it ripping the seats and roof, and boxed it in a bit with cushions to stop it sliding about.
