Possible issue with 2010 Focus Titanium I just bought

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I bought a 2010 1.6 TDCi Titanium Focus today from an Independent Dealer.. The dealer has great reviews on Google but there are a couple of things I noticed with the car after the initial drive home..

* When the car is in idle there is the typical Diesel sound from the engine but underneath that there is also a knocking noise.. once I put my foot on the clutch it stops then starts up again once I release it (even while in neutral) but on one occasion it remained okay after removing my foot from the clutch.. any ideas on what could be going on?

Also, I find when I'm driving slow in traffic, 2nd gear feels like it's gonna cut out even though it shouldn't..

* Unrelated - it has the sony radio with the buttons for the phone etc but no bluetooth, is it possible to get a part/wire/chip for the radio that will allow bluetooth to work?

Looking forward to any replies, just to have a little bit more knowledge would be great :)

Thank you

Chantelle

Found this on the web: A bearing noise that occurs when releasing the clutch pedal to engage the clutch while in neutral, but goes away when the pedal is depressed is caused by a bad transmission input shaft bearing

I would take the car back to the dealer and ask them to replace the bad bearing. Or ask for a full refund as the car was sold to you faulty

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for your reply. I'll read up a little more on that.. really appreciate your help, at least it gives me something to look into, also having a possible reason/ or sounding like I might have an idea etc will help in the situation.. 🙂

Does sound like a bearing problem. When the bearing rotates to a smooth spot the noise goes away. Then the bad part of the bearing touches and the noise comes back. The noise and knocking problem will slowly get worse and eventually the bearing will fail.
